Peek at the Book

DISCLAIMER: Poetry, the foundation of poetry anyway, is not lame or wussy. If you have an image that I wrote this book while sitting under the shade of a Willow tree, embracing the butterflies around me and saying "well hello Mr. Bunnyrabbit - how is your day going?" - all the while fifth grade boys came by and stole my lunch money - then you Sir, are incorrect.

Poetry is a bold, dynamic expression of oneself, and is quite beautiful in nature. Take music artists for example. Who do you respect more, an artist that has their lyrics written for them, or an artist/band that writes their own lyrics? You appreciate the talents of the group that write their own lyrics more...right? Well those artists are really just writing poems set to music. And mine tends to rhyme (see what I mean?). Personally, I blame the influence of 90’s hip-hop. j/k - sort of

EVERYDAY

To the God of Glory seated,
Sing a song and then repeat it
Voice your Love and honor Him
Sing a song of praise within
Hold this moment, make it last
Remember all the fear you had
Bring it forth and let it fly
Straight up to the lighted sky
To touch the stars and circle round
Burst and fall unto the ground
Barely making any sound
I ask you "What do you feel now?"
So praise the Lord who's right and good
Praise His Son upon the Wood
Praise the Spirit from His hand
Praise His people on this land
Praise God for our life today
Let it show the joy He made
For in our ways and in our words
We'll be a light for all the world

ALL I CAN SAY

I do not know the girl I love
Her dreams or deepest fears
I do not know what makes her glow
And its change through the years
I cannot tell you her first word
Or what age she knew Christ
Her favorite foods, the books she reads
Or when she rode a bike
No, all I know is she's the one
The rest is just a perk
For I know she has let God in
And let Him do His work
The other answers, I'll know soon
They'll hit me with a grin
To learn she's lived a faithful life
On outside and within
And I can tell her on that day
Just how much I have prayed
That Christ would always lead her heart
And bring her to a day
In which she sees a Godly man
Who's always cared for her
And lives his life to honor her
In actions and in words
And if he reads this poem to her
He'll look into her eyes
"Take my hand and have no fear
I've waited all my life"

MATTHEW 7:24-27

As I walked along the shore
Asking what my life was for
I saw a house upon the sand
And wondered who lived there
And on the right, another home
Standing on a rock alone
While facing east to view the sea
A whisper hit my ear
"A storm is coming from the sky
but you have no fear to hide
this storm is not for you to bear
it's only for your eyes."
I watched as winds and rain came down
Danced in stride and hit the ground
With a sharp and dreadful sound
That shook my very soul
It did not take long for the storm
to make the house sway back and forth
And when the house on sand did break
Its fall was "big and mighty great"
The house on rock was barely moved
And glistened in the sun
And looked a little brighter now
Now that the storm was done
Whether you choose sand or stone
Build on God, or stand alone
A choice we all must one day make
And we'd be wise to ask

Praise the Lord that Jesus Christ is that Rock - and we have been given the choice to Build on Him...and He will Never reject our choice!
